greenery with tropical birds. After Jean Baptists Oudry, Manufacturers Royales d'Aubusson.
Jean-Baptiste Oudry was
Born on 7 March 1686 in Paris, the son of a dealer and minor painter. He first practised mainly as a portrait painter, but from c. 1719 he turned to animal and game and concentrated on designs for tapestries, which included the celebrated Chasses Royales for Louis XV.
In 1734 he was named
director of the Beauvais tapestry manufactory, which he re-established by bringing in artists like Francois Boucher. Two years later, he became director of the Gobelins manufactory. Supervising all tapestry production gave Oudry considerable influence on French decorative arts.
